Graduated from Manarat High School in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Reem studied Arabic Literature in King Abdul Aziz University, Jeddah. She then pursued a photographic career studying at Speos School of Photography in Paris, France. Her work has been consecrated with an outstanding book “Diwan Al-Noor”, a Photographic Journey through Light, Water, and People.

As Reem stated about her photos, she likes “to show the signs of the Divine in nature and in man.” In her photographic works in black and white, the quest of light is essential, using the technique as a means to capture the divine light. White is as important as black for Reem who would search and reach for absolute white in her photos. As Paul Michaud is speaking highly of her work making a parallel with famous photographer Brassai’s approach: “Her photos also demonstrate a woman of patience, a woman who is certainly ready to wait not only minutes but hours to capture the photo she knows that she is looking for, for that very special moment in all things where the Divine manifests itself, where people and objects show their divine nature, but only to those like Brassai and Reem Al-Faisal who not only possess the rare gift of being able to recognize the Divine but also know how to wait for that very special moment.”

Since 1994 when she started her career as an artist photographer, Reem Al Faisal has been exhibiting extensively in various galleries in Saudi Arabia and abroad. Her work has been showcased at the Opera House in Cairo, Egypt, in 1996 as well as at the University of Art and Design in Beijing, China, in 1998. In addition, she has been showcasing her works in various European galleries such as in Germany, Spain, France and the Netherlands. She took part in exhibitions at the Arab World Institute (IMA) in Paris in 1999 and 2006. Meanwhile, she had several solo shows at Galerie Agathe Gaillard in Paris. Reem had an exhibition at The Peace Center of Bethlehem, Palestine, which was suspended in 2002. Also, the same year she took part in the 2nd international Media Art Biennale in Seoul, Korea. Moreover, her works have been shown at the National Museum of Singapore and in a solo show at the DIFC in Dubai, in 2007. The work of Reem has been the subject of many publications worldwide including art and photography magazines. Her works are part of various public and corporate collections such as The National Museum of Seoul, Korea, and Sakakin Center in Ram Allah, Palestine. She lives and works between Jeddah and Paris.
